Setting Story Links for Site Search Results
When a search is performed using the At Home Care search engine, results are returned with links to the relevant Story or Page. In most cases, these links will be to Advertiser pages, but when other non-advertiser stories are returned in the results, the links may point to empty or inappropriate pages. But when other non-advertiser stories are returned in the results, the links may point to empty or inappropriate pages. This is because the Story Link is set to the default setting of "Link to Story Archive".
The solution is to explicitly tell Klixo which page or part of a page (Bookmark) a Story should link to, which will be returned in the Search results. This is done using the Story Link setting.
Setting the Story Link
Set a Story Link to the relevant bookmark and page. Take New Zealand Superannuation as an example:
- Locate the bookmark on the site and copy the address (URL) to the clipboard, e.g. http://www.athomecare.co.nz/work_and_income_new_zealand.html#New_Zealand_Superannuation
-
Edit the Story in Klixo, e.g.
http://klixo.net.nz/klixo/story_edit_beta.asp?WebsiteID=1218&storyid=28740&ChannelID=5446&StoryEditorMode=Beta - Change the Story Link setting to "Link to URL"
- Remove the existing URL
- Paste in the bookmark copied above
- Click Save
Now when you search, the result returned will link to the story on the page instead.
TIP: When you edit the story, copy some of the Story Body text into the Story Description and this will be displayed with the Search result.
