Sending newsletters using the Klixo email publication system
To send your newsletter you will have to first log into the Klixo Website Manager.
Once you are happy with the stories you have created for your newsletter page and you have viewed the online version of the page and you are happy with how it all looks, you can now begin the process of sending it out to your mailing list.
Follow the steps below:
- Click on the “Email Publications” link in the top 'grey' menu of the Klixo Website Manager
- Click the corresponding “edit” for the newsletter you would like to send out
It is important that you always test the newsletter to your inbox first before sending it out to the mailing list to make last minute changes and to see if it is the content you would like to send out. Viewing the online version is also helpful but a test is still necessary. To test the newsletter:
- Change the "Test Email Address" field to your email address
- Ignore all of the other fields for this and select from the "Publishing Options" section "Test Now"
- Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
- This will send a test to your email address in the "Test Email Address" field. Note this test can take up to five minutes to arrive.
Once you have reviewed this test and you are happy with the look of the newsletter, you can then send it out to your mailing list. To send the newsletter to your email list:
- Repeat the first two steps of this article
-
Make sure the correct "Email List(s)" are selected
- "Recipients in any selected list" - means the news letter will be sent to everyone in the selected mailing lists - if there are users in more that one database the email will only be sent to them once. (This is used in most cases)
- "Recipients in every selected list" - is used when you would like to send an email newsletter that is subscribed to more than one list - the newsletter will only be sent to people who are subscribed in each mailing list.
- Select the "Publish Now" radio box
- Click the "Save" button - doing this will send out your newsletter.
When the newsletter is sent you will most likely receive a few "Returned Emails" - these are usually caused by people inserting their email addresses wrong or their email addresses no longer existing. These will be sent to the "From Address" of your email list. If you have any doubts about whether or not your newsletter has been sent contact Klixo Support.
